Joe Ahearn, former assistant coach at Colgate University, has been named as the new UMR men’s soccer coach. He takes over for Vince Darnell, who resigned to pursue other career opportunities.

Ahearn has spent the last two seasons at Colgate, a school located in Hamilton, N.Y., and a member of the Division I Patriot League.

Before joining the staff at Colgate, Ahearn, a 2000 graduate of DePaul University, spent three seasons as an assistant coach at DePaul, where he played collegiate soccer. Prior to that, he was the equipment operations coordinator for the U. S. Soccer Federation and traveled with the national team to the 2002 World Cup held in South Korea and Japan.
